The trumpet, in my opinion. Anyone can play it. There is no “wrong way” to play it, or to practice it. It is, literally, the easiest instrument for beginners to learn. I will never consider an instrument that I do not have a good handle on. If I don’t like it I will go back to the basics. It might take me a little while to find the right way, but, like all things in life, if you keep trying you will find what works for you.
How did you start playing the trumpet? I learned to play it from my mother, who taught it to us as children and I went on to study music at university. I played piano from about 1977 to 1986, when I finally discovered my passion and that it was a viable career.

It was so exciting to be a student and perform in front of the class crowd because I could hear all the students and hear them really get what I was playing. I remember feeling that it’s possible that I had actually made it in music when, when I made my debut at my local high school, my teacher said, “You’re not good enough yet; you’re only sixteen.” At this time I was still playing drums in the band and drumming my own tunes with the horn. It felt like it was almost impossible to do so. I was blown away and began to study trumpet in great detail every day. I never made the cut to the top schools and it wasn’t until 2004 that I got my shot in the
