It’s no secret that one of the great things about Microsoft’s cloud-based services is that they allow you to completely and completely customize your PC. But do you really need to change every single thing?
It looks like Microsoft is going to take a page out of the iPhone’s book and actually let you tweak a PC to just make it your own. In fact, you can even set it into a bootable USB drive, or you can even burn the image to a DVD and use it on any other device. All in all, there are a plethora of ways to go about this, and the one we’ve spotted actually works, but it’s going to cost you a buck.
As we reported last night, it looks like you will be able to install Windows 7 and 8/8.1 on a USB flash drive that you simply attach to your PC, or you can burn the ISO file that you want to install onto a DVD. Either way, you’ll have the choice of picking one of the two options. We’ll let you know if they work as well as they look.
Of course, if you own a Windows Vista/7 PC then the only thing you’ll need to do is download and install Visual C++ Runtime (VC++) 7 for your Windows XP, Vista, or Server 2003 computer. There’s no way around it, you’ll either need a USB flash drive that you attach to the PC or you’ll need to stick your old installation on a DVD that you’re burning to a DVD. Which ever route you choose, you’ll be able to simply rewire the PC
