You must have the ability to be a responsible dog walker, be able to walk the dog safely, have the skill and knowledge to be able to teach your dog and be able to make dog behaviour decisions. You must also be able to work a part time job. Some work or part-time jobs can include: Dogs (companion dogs) – this is the role of a dog walker or dog trainer and is often an opportunity to go into a small town, a rural place or into the countryside with another dog. Dog walking – this is the term for the full time responsibility that is paid, including your expenses, for helping your pet. Dog walking is a flexible type of work where you will not always be there to supervise your dog. This can take place in a dog walking business or at the home, both work and home locations.
For some occupations, there may also be a requirement to pass a certain type of certification, the qualification or training, which could be offered through a registered organisation or a personal training school (PDT).

What training do I need with regard to helping my pet to walk?

What experience do I need?
You will need to be able to provide a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. You will then need to be able to hold a valid job and to prove that you have been assessed as a suitable work permit holder. This is to prove that you are suitable to work in the occupation and will be able to work safely and at the right level.
For some occupations, there may also be a requirement to give evidence that you have been assessed as a suitable work place. This is to prove that you have been assessed as a suitable work and that you have completed training relevant to the occupation.
