The minimum requirements for photography are:
Attention to detail and passion for the project.
An excellent command of computers.
A good feel, as to the aesthetic of the location
What would you say about the difference between a local photographer for the “main” photo shoot and an experienced tourist?
It depends on what you are looking for. It is definitely in your interest to hire an experienced photographer, as well as to be seen on TV. An experienced photographer can show, in good quality, your work in a timely manner.
What do you think about the importance of your location to your image? How long do you spend photographing the same location?
I believe that you have to understand if these images are for you and not for yourself. If you want to shoot a set of photos for a commercial client, you should not get into these situations in a place which is not your home place, or for which you were not well qualified.
How much do you typically spend on a shoot? Does it vary?
I have been photographing for a while now, and it has evolved to be something like $500-2,500 a month; depending on how well you do.
What sort of gear were you using?
I started out with Canon 5D MkII and an assortment of Canon lenses, with a minimum of about $150. A lot of that, depending the shoot, went to accessories like tripods, stand and lights. I never went so far as to go under $500, so $50-100 went for lenses, a few more went for flash, and I also used some Sony lenses.
How many shots and what would you say were the key elements in getting the right photos for a client?
For most of the time, a full body shoot takes 5-6 hours. This can vary depending on the complexity of the shot, as well as the complexity of the client, but the goal is always to get a good color balance, and keep the background sharp, so the subject can be seen with the image. The images should reflect the client’s personality, and you should be able to see them clearly. It is also important to shoot in bright sunlight, in the back of your headlight on a full sun set.
What would a client expect from a professional photographer?
I would expect a professional to not take myself too seriously and always to deliver the images and pictures with
