What are the two types of social dance?

In the case of dancing competitions in Japan, we can speak of the traditional ones and the modern ones.
“Jazz” is one of the most popular varieties of dance, although there is a variety of classical folk dance, and there are lots of dancing tournaments on which the top performers compete for this title. These competitions have a wide range of movements and dances which are not only performed at competitions; they are also performed at social gatherings and as wedding dances. The traditional dances include the “J-dance” (J-dance being traditional Japanese dance with a long line of steps), the “Tsukuri Taza”, the “Ki-dance”, and the “Yokomaru”.
The “Tsukuri Taza” is an easy dance to learn, if you have any experience with Japanese dance. It is performed by one or two dancers on a small circular platform, with a circle of a few hundred chairs around the platform. One of the partners, often a female partner, dances to the melody that’s normally played by one performer. There are many different variations of this dance which are performed on the dance stage.
In addition to all the traditional, classical and modern dances, there is a variety of modern dances as well that are mainly performed at parties and festivals. For the same reason, modern dance is not necessarily suitable for people with no experience of Japanese dance.

In the first place, the dance must be performed in a quiet place where one does not disturb the other party members. Also, the music that is played in the dance must be appropriate, and if it is a live music band, the music and vocals should be in Japanese. The Japanese language must also be a part of the celebration and dance. At the same time, both the dance and the music must be completely in sync with one another, which is not possible if the music comes in a strange rhythm and if the dance is performed one after another.
In the first place, Japanese parties and dance competitions are not in a position to perform a good variety of modern dance in a short time with the right accompaniment.
To give this example an example, it would not be feasible to perform any kinds of classical dance or dance competitions on a very simple platform with a very small number of people. However, there are certain kinds of classical musical pieces which do not have the same rhythm when played with the rhythm of modern dance, and there do exist a few classical dance songs that are not part of modern dance
