The original was painted black and red and had a red hood. It’s not on the car in the current model, though it’s seen a lot of light.
I can think of a couple of different ways to do that.
There were plans for a “Mustang 5” with a green hood and white wheels. The blue hood was always going to be used. Or a blue Mustang in that car. That’s what Chris would do all the time. Or a red ’65 on the hood was originally a possibility, but this one could be all blue. Or maybe yellow, for some reason. Chris really wanted the white, too, but I think we got the blue one for it. Chris was also one of the first ones to paint a Mustang car, back in 1987 — the color of the car was always a surprise to him.
The White House has sent this alert to all US military personnel:
A US Army unit conducting an exercise near the town of Krinkelovo, near Latakia province, has been asked to take immediate steps to relocate its headquarters as a precaution for the possibility that a chemical weapon may have been used. Military officials have contacted the US National Guard and Homeland Security officials and requested a meeting with them to discuss precautions. The military has also urged its partners in the exercise to be vigilant.
The Washington Post has the details:
U.S. officials have received confirmation of at least one U.S. military casualty after chemical weapons were used on Wednesday, officials said…U.S. military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that the chemical agent which led to the casualty is highly unstable and that it could explode with high intensity.
In a statement, the American Civil Defense Agency said it was working with “certain partners” to “contain this incident.”
The chemical agent which caused a chemical warfare response has now been identified and a response protocol has been set to minimize the casualties and the chemical reaction, the organization said.
So that explains why this was an exercise near Krinkelski, Latakia and not, say, the Middle East. If the incident happened close to Damascus, it is a direct violation of international law, and it appears to be very likely that the US is sending a message to the Syrian government, and the Syrian government won’t respond by not retaliating, and the Syrian government won’t retaliate by using chemical weapons, and this is just a “test” — not a war.
