The idea was, that if you can imagine, how would it feel to be in your own pocket and being able to do something you want to do. So I asked people what the most fun thing was they couldn’t do when they were in their own pocket: what would it take for you to be in your own pocket? What do you do when you get bored of watching TV? What’s the most fun thing with your girlfriend and nothing’s going on besides you arguing?
A lot of people said this: they could go on a walk through the park or a drive through town. I said, ‘We’re not going anywhere!’ And people said, ‘No, no’. So I said, ‘You could walk around until this place becomes yours’. So I created this thing that you can walk around in your car with this car stereo, and you can listen to the radio at any time. And then, I said, ‘Okay, now you’ll be in your own car, and you can drive down the road. And your car stereo will say ‘We’ve arrived at your destination’. And you’re not going to know where you are and your car is never ever going to do that. Now is it possible to imagine that this could actually be the most fun thing you can do?
So I’m thinking, if that’s the most fun thing you could do, how do you go on and make it a reality?
A lot of people said, ‘Hey, how are you going to pay for it?’ And I would say, ‘We’re not going anywhere, I don’t care how much you pay me.’ I said. ‘You will, you will.’ So I told them, ‘We’re not paying for your phone, I am.’
And when you think of your car, where do you think, I don’t want this car anymore. Where do you think you are? If you’re thinking, ‘I was never gonna buy this car’, then that’s not what I’m talking about. If you’re thinking, ‘I can go here’, then that is what we’re talking about. If you’re thinking of going anywhere, then that’s what you’re talking about. What do you do when you go anywhere? What do you have now? ‘I have money to rent’. What’s the most fun thing you could have? What’s the most fun thing you can do in your life?
