That depends on how the style evolved. The most important thing is to try to have an atmosphere that feels “real,” which means I like places with lots of color in the landscape for that reason. That also helps a lot if I want it to appear that the character is very dynamic in motion.
“The key is to get a feeling that says I was here.”
What do you consider the best illustration styles?
There are so many ways to describe it. It depends on how the style was developed, what people told me, if I thought a character needed something, or if it was important to have a feeling about the character, or if someone pointed out certain key elements. I’m always curious to see what people thought and what the public thinks about me, and I think I’m pretty good at what I do. If I’m looking for an illustration style or if I’m just curious, I might go over some of my ideas and get ideas for how the style could be improved and how to make a character seem more dynamic.
