My students often ask “is pencils a medium?”, and I’ve even gotten students confused by the answer. The answer isn’t that you can’t say pencil is a medium, but that the answer isn’t always the best one.
It’s not uncommon to see “medium” pencils. What’s rarer are pencils that are not “medium”‘s. Many times schools don’t even have an official definition of the word, so I will use whatever is the best for the project I’m working on.
In my next lesson (or lesson group), we will be exploring the meanings of various terms that teachers have used throughout the years to describe various types of pencils.
A long-delayed video of a man arrested over a controversial protest at the Toronto Eaton Centre has been released, and it shows the man calling the police while being arrested and accused of inciting a riot and violence. It comes days after other videos of the incident, which saw two young men arrested and charged for holding a counter-protest against the police were released.
A man was arrested at Toronto Eaton Centre, the police said, after he took over the public works department and disrupted a protest. A YouTube video shows members of an anti-fascist group blocking a vehicle that was to be used to transport protestors to an event where they would be able to make their voices heard.
Toronto Police say two young men, who had previously been arrested on similar charges, have now been charged with riot, assault with a weapon and disorderly conduct. ((CBC))
The video shows a man wearing t-shirt that reads “Cops for Trump” wearing handcuffs on his arms and wrists as several officers take him into custody. He is later seen being arrested by another officer. The man is shown walking toward several officers holding a “Cops for Trump” sign and shouting as he walks to the ground.
A Toronto Police Service spokesperson tweeted late Friday that two people, who have not been named, are charged: a 19-year-old resident from Vaughan, Ont., and someone from Burlington, Ont. The 19-year-old man was arrested at Toronto Eaton Centre on Friday and the 28-year-old Burlington woman was arrested on Saturday. Both are currently in custody and their cases will be dealt with in court on Monday.
On Saturday, about 70 counter protesters who had gathered to protest the police action were left stranded outside the Eaton Centre.
