The French are an amazing nation. They were the first to achieve the status of a full-fledged political power through a revolution.
But what is great about the French is their ability to change from one era to the next for their own, seemingly, advantage — in this case, fashion.
The french are a creative force — but they are also very pragmatic. They can’t get hung up on fashion. French style always evolves over time, but it is always rooted in something that is practical, timeless, and has relevance to the present. It is never a case of fashion having a soul.

French fashion in the last 60 years has definitely changed from being a “formal” fashion to being something more spontaneous, organic, and “born with no design.” In a way, it became the antithesis of everything that characterized modernism. It was a modern fashion that was less structured, and more spontaneous.
Modernism, to me, is simply an approach to fashion that was never very successful before French fashion.
In other words, modernism wasn’t really new, since it was born in the last 30 years with the French Revolution.

So where does modernism come from?
To me, it is a historical development, which happens every once and a while.
For example, in the early days of the French Revolution, this shift was more to do with the French bourgeoisie, for whom fashion made the most sense. It was more of a means of control and control of wealth — rather than a way to express personality.
The French revolution was a complete rejection of the status quo of the time — it was a complete rejection of the idea that fashion could be something that would give you the dignity of an independent individual — it was about changing things around.
