Why is it important for students to know social dance? – Production In Dance

What are the social dancing styles or dances? Where can they get information about those?

I want to get students more aware of the social dance world, and also get people dancing in a way that they might want to dance. One way to be aware is to talk to someone who loves dancing to a wide variety of styles, etc., I’m more familiar with contemporary dance, so I’d be very curious about them. You can search on terms like “pale, jittery or twirl” etc. – but as long as the dance is social, you’ll have a good idea of what’s going on. The other way would be to come out and teach someone! (See here for a step by step of how to get a dance team together.) If you’re interested in doing that, find a social dancer and talk to them.

This is a really fun discussion! I’d love to hear any of your thoughts/concerns in these comments – or in your question.

An international group of scientists has used a combination of nanotechnology and advanced chemistry to engineer a substance that can transform oil into biofuel.

The key innovation behind the effort: the development of a new polymer complex that combines the properties of petroleum with the qualities of hydrogen peroxide.

Porous carbon nanotubes were found to be quite efficient as catalysts on oil, with hydrogen peroxide being a second best performance. However, both of these catalysts degrade within hours of contact with water.

In their new paper, the team describes the way that a series of nanospheres attached to a polymer nanocoel of a specific shape were used to produce a much smoother oil surface and a significantly greater density of the molecule, which was able sustain the catalyst’s ability to react.

By injecting a concentration of hydrogen peroxide on the surface of the polymer nanocoels, the researchers were able to mimic the reaction between petroleum gas and water to produce a higher quality biofuel.

In their paper, the group describes the technique that has been used to make this material since the 1970s. They start by creating a polyamide oil by melting petroleum to create two pieces of polyamide.

The group then dissolves these two pieces of polyamide into a solution of hydrocarbon catalyst. The catalyst allows the two components to fuse. Once the two pieces of oil have bonded, the scientists are able to add more hydrocarbon and catalyze the reaction again, resulting in a lower energy product.
