One of the oldest foods that many Christians still try to restrict from their diet are the following items. Let me explain…
1. Vegetable Juice.
Even if you were to limit yourself to the juice you drink at meals, it is clear that juices are among the most health-giving foods. For example, a glass of orange juice can help to lower blood pressure and may lower your risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke by reducing your blood vessels becoming congested as we do every day. And a glass of orange juice has a low glycemic index (GI). And if you are a vegetarian, the glycemic index is lower than even the most popular types of vegetables. In fact, this high-GL fruit juice can even lower your risk of diabetes.
2. Beans (i.e. Quinoa and Split Peas).
Both Quinoa and Split Pea’s have a low glycemic index (GI). The main difference between these two grains is that Quinoa has more lectins and phytates, the compounds that prevent digestion of foods. And Split Pea’s contain much more fiber than Quinoa. Both beans and peas provide a lot of soluble fiber. This helps to prevent the development of constipation and the accumulation of plaque. Both peas and beans are also good sources of protein, vitamins A and B11, magnesium, copper, and potassium.
3. Legumes (i.e. Beans, Nuts, Peanuts, Peanuts, Peanut Butter, Peanuts and Walnuts).
Most of us have heard of lentils so it doesn’t make much sense to limit eating lentils, which are a great source of fiber, zinc, vitamin C and protein. And there is little disagreement that peanuts are a fantastic source of protein.
4. Fruits and Vegetables (Dairy and Eggs only)
Fruit and vegetables are an essential part of a healthy balanced diet. In fact, some people may have trouble even getting enough vegetables to keep them slim and healthy as they age. Fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber and contain antioxidants. And they have many heart-healthy flavonoids which are good for the heart. But fruits and vegetables have little fat and calories. And many people struggle to get enough calcium in fruits and vegetables, which can contribute to osteoporosis (bone loss). This is why most people try to avoid fruits and vegetables unless they are in season (i.e.
