A new, interactive map of the United States’ top universities is being rolled out today as part of an effort to put the spotlight back on the state’s top universities.The University of Georgia (UGA) and the University of Michigan (UM), both based in Ann Arbor, are the top two universities in the United States in terms of total grant-revenue in the past decade, according to U.S. News & World Report.The maps, produced by the National Council for College and University Business, show the top universities per capita and the number of students they enroll. They use data from the National Center for Education Statistics, which collects federal data on total students, as well as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which shows jobs.The report also breaks down the top 10 public universities. The Ohio State University (OSU) is the second most-profitable university in the state, with $22.85 billion in annual revenue, behind only the University of Iowa (UI) ($24.4 billion).For the fourth straight year, the University of California (UC) Berkeley (UCSB) remains the No. 1 on the U.S. News annual list. The Berkeley-based institution has a total of $27.8 billion in revenue.UCSB earned the most award money for the second year in a row, with more than $1.9 billion. The school also took top honors for all its research, including seven National Medals of Science, seven awards as major recipients of National Business Leaders Awards, and 22 honors as recipients of the National Merit Scholarship Program.The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), UIC’s sister school, rounds out the top five, with an annual total of $1.7 billion, or $8,000 for each of its students.The College of Saint Rose (CSU) in St. Louis, Missouri, with a total of $2.23 billion in revenue, continues to lead the nation in overall awards after a five-year stretch of dominance. The school now ranks fifth.The University of Texas (UT) in Austin is the No. 10 university in the country, based on total awards, at $6.2 billion. UT’s revenue now ranks seventh in the country, which translates into a total of more than $50,000 for each student.The
