In this tutorial I will teach you how to make simple songs and albums from the first step of the process to the final music when you are ready for production.
1. Get access to your computer.
First off you need a computer that meets the minimum requirements that you need to be able to do this. You need a computer that can run Adobe Flash. You need to have a microphone if you plan to record vocals. Also you need an online music store to purchase music!
Once you have a computer set up you can follow step #1. If not, or if you don’t have access to a computer yet, you can download a program called GarageBand from iTunes for free.
2. Find a website to download GarageBand.
GarageBand is an easy to use program that lets you write songs on your computer. It’s only $19.95 and is absolutely free for you to use if you download it from iTunes. You can then drag your GarageBand files onto your computer and start recording.
3. Download GarageBand.
You can download GarageBand without giving iTunes your computer’s computer password here.
Go on to the “Add to Cart” page and select the location on your computer you want to download from. This is how you are storing your files on your computer.
4. Enter your computer’s computer password.
If your computer already has a username and password, then use the username and password you created when setting up the computer when you first opened it.
To update those passwords go to the “System Settings” menu and click “Accounts.”
5. Download your songs.
As GarageBand opens, click the “File” menu.
In the “Download” box, navigate to where you downloaded your GarageBand files. Here you are downloading your song file.
Click the “Browse File” button. Here you should see the files you downloaded.
Now drag those files onto the file explorer of your computer. You can drag all the files onto it. Now the song files are waiting for you on your computer.
6. Select the song file.
This is just like installing the Song Maker program into your computer. The process of setting it up is just the same as when you did the Song Maker.
To view your song files select the song file as you would normally click on the name of an item in iTunes.
