Rapper Snoop, the mastermind of the Snoop Dogg Project, explains he and the band members are constantly trying to find an authentic rap sound. “How do you do it?” he asked rhetorically in the episode. “The way people listen to rock or classical music, there’s a rhythm that you can’t really duplicate that in any other way, or can you? But, on the other side of the spectrum, there’s an element of chaos and confusion you can’t duplicate by trying to get the best beats on the dance floor,” he said.
The idea came to him in 2003 in Atlanta while on tour with Bad Religion. “That was when we realized all the things we’re trying to do could be done in the studio,” he said. “I was trying to find a way to translate what was happening on the dance floor to the bar or to the radio, to the streets.” And so, the concept for the project formed. After one show, he asked the group to brainstorm how rappers could get the audience interested. “At that point, you don’t even want to be a rapper. You’re trying to find the right groove and do your best to get people to come for you,” he said.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A top European Union official has raised the prospect of a major new military build-up of about 50,000 U.S. troops and equipment to protect the continent and its allies against Russia.
This would be the most significant U.S. deployment of its kind since the Cold War, with the potential to shape the Western defense posture for the past 20 years.
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Friday that an EU defense plan would likely lead to the presence of some 50,000 troops on the continent, with another 20,000 on the Baltic and the Black Sea.
He said the plan was a good example of a new era of military planning that combined military-to-military cooperation with civil-military co-operation.
“Such a plan would entail a high level of political will, but also political responsibility,” Steinmeier told German TV public broadcaster ARD on Friday. “It can no longer be only a political decision but also a common one.”
