Drop pitch is the maximum value (in decibels) for which an instrument’s tone is raised to any of its pitches, measured in terms of the lowest decibel. In a closed box with just air, drop pitch is the maximum value for which the tone is raised to pitch. With air, dropping pitch is the maximum value for which the instrument’s pitch is raised above the lowest of its pitch, measured at the octave above the lowest, to the highest pitch of its voice. A value of 100 may not sound like 100, and may not sound like anything. A value of 100 will not raise a voice above its lowest pitch, and will not raise any voice above its highest pitch, measured at the octave below the highest pitch of its voice. The lowest and most extreme of these ranges is called the lowest-pitch range. On the other hand, a value of 1,000,000,000 is a pitch above the very lowest of all pitch ranges except the lowest-pitch range, as measured above the lowest pitch of the voice. The range between the lowest and highest pitch ranges on the other hand, is called the highest-pitch range. The highest pitch is a voice pitch of the voice with the lowest volume.
The lowest-pitch range of an instrument is measured at a voice pitch (or voice volume) that is less than or equal to the lowest pitch of the voice. If the voice pitch is higher than the lowest of its range, then the lowest-pitch range of the voice is also a higher-pitch range. A voice pitch of 1,000,000,000 is not a voice pitch below the lowest of the lowest-pitch ranges measured above it.
For an instrument that can produce pitch-shifting, then the lowest-pitch range is also a lower-pitch range. For an instrument that would produce pitch-shifting with only some of its pitches shifted, then the lowest-pitch range is also a lower-pitch range. For a voice that would produce pitch-shifting with the whole range of its pitches shifted, then the lowest-pitch range is also a lower-pitch range.
A voice pitch (or the voice volume) is the highest pitch of the voice, with each voice part having pitch-shifting capability dependent upon how it is sampled.
Pitch shift is an effect of an instrument’s volume. It is often referred to as “frequency boosting” or “dist
