B. (A: And I use every single one of my fingers. So the questions are, do I need to be perfect with my playing, and do I need to learn how to strum with everything except just 2 fingers?)
Q. Are there “real” ukulele players and if so how many are there? I know many are very vocal in what they play, but how many ukulele players would you say there are?
B. I think a lot of ukulele players are just doing it because they want to, and it is what they do. If you are just hanging out with friends and playing around the house, then I totally get it, but you’ll have no idea who is playing any of the songs if you don’t go out there. I know that most people would not know how to play the guitar anyway.
Q. Are there any ukulele players who would be better off if we never met them in the first place?
B. I don’t think that’s true. If you can live without them, then I don’t think you need to meet them ever. I’m not saying that everyone should be on the road a lot because that is what people do. And I think most of the ukulele players that live in the uk, like most of the guitarists, do a lot of traveling. To me it would be pretty easy if you lived at home, but that kind of leads into another reason. So much of the time you have to move your family to different places to play. There is a lot of traveling on your life.
Q. Should people not ever go out of the country?
B. To be honest with you, I think that’s a hard thing to be in favor of. This is a hobby that I enjoy a lot. You could have a lot of fun there; you don’t have to be around people all the time. I would agree that it is a good idea to travel. It’s not like you’re going to be in someone’s backyard playing for a couple of hours every weekend; you will have to travel at some point; I would recommend traveling. I don’t think that it’s wrong to enjoy playing and to travel, but I think if you do it all of the time, it can detract from your life.
Q. I hear from a lot of people on here that playing music is too hard, but I
