What is the difference between a concert and tenor ukulele? – Learn Ukulele Online Beginner Art Classes

A concert ukulele is a stringed instrument that is tuned to the same musical pitch as the strings. It has a single string; it is not an ukulele, for example. Tenor ukes have two strings and they are tuned to different pitches. These instruments are typically larger in size than concert ukes and their performance varies a great deal.

What is an “Uke” or a “Gigaboo” uke?

An “Uke” (short for “Uke”, or “Uke Uke” in the U.S.) is an ukulele that is tuned to the same pitch as the strings. It may also have multiple strings. While a concert ukulele sounds like a concert ukulele, a gigaboo uke sounds like a gigaboo. In addition to the different string types, a gigaboo uke also has a unique set of keys.

Some of the differences:

The ukulele has two single strings — the top string is tuned D2, which is a D. The bottom string is tuned E2, which is F#. The top string is also used as the note of the lower string (D7).

The ukulele has a large headstock with grooves in the bottom. The top string is typically tuned E on this instrument.

The ukulele’s headstock is smaller, and usually has a slightly more rounded and rounded appearance than concert instruments do…but a more “gritty” feel than, say, a gigaboo.

Gigaboos are generally lighter and smaller in size than a gigaboo. While a gigaboo can have several notes tuned to the same pitch as its top string, it usually does not have a bottom string.
