It comes down to the time commitment.
“When people tell you a joke is bad, they are usually making a mistake. You know, ‘I didn’t think of that, I don’t know the joke was bad.'”
For those who get the humor, they feel a level of understanding for a larger topic — which is especially important when you’re a student.
“The time commitment is important because you have nothing else. The other courses don’t teach you anything. This is your time. It’s your opportunity to learn,” she said.
There’s also the issue of safety. When an audience member is a member of the media, all hands on deck.
“If something happens, someone else is the person in the position of being the news producer or the video producer. There’s the danger of being the person who is the subject,” she said.
While there are many different styles of ventriloquism, most people who perform at school are “just normal people,” she said.
“They’re not doing this to be famous, they’re just doing it to make everyone smile,” she said. “I think we’re all just people who have a lot of fun.”
