How do you do easy magic tricks with coins? – Smarter Living Podcast

If you’re like me, you’re probably surprised how simple it is to make the magic with coins. What’s even more surprising is that coins don’t actually have to come from a specific coin or a specific location. If you’re like me, you can even make your own coin that you’ll love.

Here’s how. We’re going to use a trick to turn the coins in a coin jar into a big silver “M” (or a smaller M in order to keep the tricks short and sweet) or even better, you can use the trick that comes with your coin jar:

You’ll notice that there is actually no need for the coins to actually make a “M”. All you have to do is put them into your jar and then fill up the center of the jar (or the hole in the jar for coins) using what we call “Punch-Card” Method.

Here’s how this works: when you turn the coin in, the base of the coin moves so that it turns into a circle. A small bump on the top of the coin moves the circle around to form what is called a “Punch Card”.

You now have a big silver “M” on your hand and the coin is “packed” (taped-together) in your jar.

Now, with your “Punch Card” in your hand, you move the coin to the front and back of your jar, with the bottom of the “Punch Card” in the front of the jar. For the same reason, the coin will be centered at the front of the jar. Move the “Punch Card” a bit higher, and repeat this process.

It’s worth noting that I put the coin in the middle of a punch card. That is because the middle of the coin has been cut off the top to make a P. That allows you to take a good look at what’s really going on under the surface without having to bend a piece of cardboard up to look at it.

If you want to make up a lot of coins, you can create your own custom coin (here’s how) or you can just make a bigger coin that you love and get other folks to do the same trick. Either way, you have a fun and creative way to show off your skills.
