I don’t have much experience, but it’s not nearly as hard as painting by hand and it’s good enough to make ends meet. Is there a minimum requirement? Nope. Most web artists will do it, unless you say otherwise.
Are you a designer? You need to take a course. I think that’s why there is a free website here.
Do you have any specific skills you wish to develop? Well, the only thing I’ve ever done is get a certificate of appreciation from a college in my home town. Nothing too special.
Does your artwork have any special characteristics? I try not to do anything too abstract or complicated. But every once in a while I’ll make something with a lot of detail or a large, beautiful piece of artwork.
Are you a good conversationalist? Most web artists don’t speak often and don’t want to sound lame. They might say something along the lines of “Wow I can’t believe I made you draw that, it takes too damn long!” If you do take a course or teach yourself drawing, you just won’t sound as old-fashioned as people think you are.
What are your goals and dreams? My goal is an honest, clear drawing as well as good health. If I don’t achieve my ambition, I’ll quit and find new work. And even if I do accomplish my goals, I also hope in my afterlife to be a true cartoonist.
How much can you make/ How much can you keep? I draw a lot but I draw cheap and cheap. I’ve done about 40 comics in the last 12 months. They are really inexpensive but they aren’t all good. They are usually done at about $3 per comic page. I do draw a lot but this isn’t a career for me.
How did you get started? I started when I was 8 years old. I drew a lot of cartoons about cats. I really liked that so I used to draw cats all day long. I don’t know why there shouldn’t be cats in comics, but they just aren’t there yet. Maybe one day but not this year.
How did you end up as a cartoonist? The guy I drew this comic for asked me if I could draw something different and different enough to keep going if I don’t finish drawing this comic all by myself. I said I’m not interested in doing that and he was happy with that.
