One of the best aspects of spray paint is that it can allow you to make incredible things with one brush. I’ve seen some very creative and unique results using simple but effective spray paint techniques.
It’s amazing what you can achieve with a few lines – how many things can you design? Here are 16 of my favorite free or cheap ways to make very simple designs. There’s so much more to it than just doing simple drawings and things.
1. Draw a water slide
It’s simple enough and requires nothing more than a single palette knife. It’s super easy.
2. Draw a picture
There are only a few things you can’t do with paint you can get at a paint store. You need lots and lots of paint. But that is what we’re going to explore next time. Here are a couple of examples I’ve done over the years.
3. Draw a picture with ink and water
You’ll need a palette knife or a fine tip paint pen to draw this picture.
There are many ways to draw on paper. My personal favorite is the one I show below. It’s an old comic book I used to read that contained lots of drawings.
4. Draw a picture on a sheet of white wood
This is a very unique approach to drawing using wood. It can be a great way to get a few ideas going and is super simple.
5. Draw a picture on water
You can make these paintings by sprinkling water on a piece of paper. Or, as you’ll see, you can draw a picture on a sheet of white wood. See how they blend together so beautifully?
6. Paint a watercolour image
I don’t always use water for this painting because I have so many great artists I admire who use wood. I prefer to use paint because water colour really takes me to a different world of colour and texture. The watercolour takes me to the world of abstraction and I really like doing that.
7. Paint a picture using just a simple brush
If you don’t have a brush handy, just draw straight lines on the paper.
