Tottenham and Real Madrid are close to sealing the signing of Portugal star Nani after the 22-year-old’s agent confirmed to the media that the Portuguese club will be able to sign the player.

The Portugal star, who has been linked with a move from Sporting Lisbon in recent weeks, has not featured for Sporting this season after completing a loan move in January from Sporting.
Sporting manager Jorge Jesus was recently quoted by the press saying that a loan deal is not necessarily the way to go for Nani after he is unable to feature at the Olympic Stadium in his second season in Portugal.
While Nani would seem to fit that bill, Sporting CEO Jurgen Damm admitted that the club has now had discussions with Real Madrid and Sporting about the youngster’s future.
“He will make a decision about his career after his loan is at an end. The player is happy at Sporting and we hope that there will be an agreement soon,” Damm told Gazzetta dello Sport.
Nani played under Carlo Ancelotti for Real Madrid between 2007 and 2009 and has made 38 appearances for the Spanish giants, including seven starts.
Nani scored 29 goals as a defender in all competitions during the 2010/11 season in Madrid and scored seven goals in 18 appearances in all competitions.
