How much do indie filmmakers make?

“It’s definitely something to think about, and that’s because you have to think about it in order to do your job. I like to think about my job as a photographer, and that’s something that makes me feel like I’m still doing the same thing when I was in high school. It’s the same work and there’s still the same kind of love. But now it has to change.”

Who should get these jobs and why?

“I was a bit afraid that I’d just have some kid show some shit so that I would have to pick what to shoot. But they gave it to a bunch of guys who are great, who are professional, who are good for the film, and who can really work. I think that’s been the biggest factor, not only for me, but for other people who have applied.”

Why are you giving up your career as a photographer and becoming a cinematographer?

“Now it’s really about doing something that I love and making me be happy. If that’s something I can do for a little more money, but not be in a job that is too much. It’s not really me, but really just my job to me: to be creative and make movies that I really care about and to make the experience great.”

What’s your next step?

“I’m working with some friends to make something. We’re having a lot of fun, and it’s fun to see what happens when that starts to grow. We’re going to start releasing stuff that we want to release, but the money we make it for just for that, and then it’s on to making those things.”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been encouraged to give a photographer?

“Just be nice to people. If you have any kind of job, and you’re good at it, make a lot of money, and if you’re a person who’s good at that as well, it’s going to be your life.”

How long do you plan to work on this project for?

“I know that I don’t plan on doing it for forever, so I’m not worried for my future. I’m looking forward to when I can’t do anything else. I want the chance to share my experience working and seeing what it feels like doing it on film, and to feel good making movies. I’m looking forward to that day, and I haven’t even tried the camera yet anyway
