Does your singing voice get better with age? – Can You Train Your Voice To Sing Better

Is it harder to maintain your voice over time if you are in a band because you’re doing it “too much”? And do you have an idea of how to keep your own voice in optimal condition?

The answer is both. A person with a better voice is likely to perform better because she can sing louder – not because she can sing longer- because she can sing louder and louder. It is what the voice is made for – it should be strong and articulate as a whole. As you age, your voice will lose its elasticity and ability to move as you become more and more tired. However, there are things you can do to reduce all of these things, and even help them improve.

First, if you find yourself in the habit of singing too many “rhymns” in a certain style – do not give in! There’s a reason a lot of people get better, after quitting this activity. Don’t do this! Go to your favorite music library and make a list of songs from that music genre and get back to it as soon as you can. You’ll be amazed at what it’s really like in that song. The more you sing something in that genre in a particular style, the better you will sing.

Second, if you find yourself singing a lot “solo” but not doing a great job of singing the parts – this is normal. You might want to have someone else take on that part for a bit – but do not go overboard. When the part gets good, sing it again to the rest of the band. Some people sing their parts better than others, and some singers sing their parts beautifully, yet the rest get their parts wrong. It’s all a matter of personal preference. It’s a bit like the way one might sing a single note of a violin: sometimes you miss it, sometimes you get it right, sometimes you get no notes at all. And you can pick and choose what you think is right. It’s a matter of personal taste and skill.
