Singer Misha Glenny was born and raised in St. Louis and studied music at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Glenny is currently a graduate of the Chicago Institute for the Performing Arts and has taught the role of “ladyboy” at the Lincoln Centre Theater in New York City, where she is also a cast member.

I first started watching the World Cup in 1999, as the only native English speaker watching soccer with a bunch of my classmates. The following year, when I was in college, I was in charge of broadcasting the US’s men’s national teams, and in 2005, I began covering the European teams with a different group of friends. For the 2007 World Cup, I was asked to follow the women’s teams. On paper, this seemed a perfect opportunity for me to try a different kind of sports journalism–and after two years, that’s what I did.

For a long career, I have written about various sport and entertainment topics online and offline throughout North America and the United Kingdom. In my time covering sports, I’ve covered everything from professional wrestling to football, and the World Cup is just my latest outlet to cover it. I get to keep a lot of my favorite sporting stories and characters, and there’s always an opportunity to cover more. I’ve got some pretty awesome teams coming up–and some familiar names and faces!–and so far, it has been a joy to write about it.

First, let me give you a quick bit of background on me. I’m 34 years old, and I live in Toronto, where I work as a freelance journalist and columnist for various news sites.
