How much do videographers make per video?

Video, for one, is very time consuming. You want to make a video of only one or two minutes if you can, because you are essentially spending more time to have the video look and sound as good as possible. You can hire a professional videographer, who will save you a lot of money in the long run, but it will take you more time. So if you want to make a feature length indie video, the most important aspect of your video will be its length and/or quality of your video production skills. The length of your video does not correlate well with the quality of the footage.

What should I think of when I hear “video production companies” and “videographer” in the same sentence?

What’s so hard to do is that for a majority of videographer jobs in general, you are paying for the skills of a single person, usually in a single country, so you have no idea about how good that person is actually. For example, if you watch some of the videos I’ve made, many of them look and sound very amateurish and amateurish to me. They look like amateur videos out of a video shop.

You are hiring someone from a single country, and most likely in the same industry (so there is not much experience and/or real knowledge to lose). The problem with this business is that companies that make videography as a whole are in danger of just becoming more of a glorified production company, like Apple with iBooks . There are too many producers and directors doing the same job, with the same camera equipment and the same techniques, and in the end, the outcome is just as bad as if a single person were doing it.

Is “video producer” and “videographer” a bad thing?

It is a bit of a misnomer. When an independent videographer is hired to do a job, it isn’t so much that he will do a good job. Usually these jobs are to support yourself and your family financially; to pay rent (or mortgage). If you do not want to pay rent, hire a videographer. That’s the best thing you can do.

You do not want someone in that position to have an opinion on how to shoot your video, or to suggest ways to make it look better. But I can say this: For any kind of independent, or commercial, video production job, at the end of the day, the quality is going to be as good
