Do music videos make money?

It depends on the amount we’re shooting, how exciting that shoot is — we’ve done a few in Mexico, some we’re shooting in Europe — how much we’re getting paid. Then we need to decide, what do we want to build a business on? I don’t think it’s that different than shooting music videos. The most important thing is that we are making something that we love that we know people are going to enjoy. We want people to feel like something they don’t know much about is going to be a good thing to them, and we don’t want to waste energy on something we haven’t done. And, of course, the best part is that we do all of these videos in one day, so we can keep our schedules open, so, the way our day’s going, next weekend we’ll have five new videos!

Is it more expensive to shoot music videos overseas than here in the states? The only exception is to go to Asia to shoot an Asian commercial, since most commercials in the U.S. aren’t shot overseas. If it costs more money there, then you are paying someone to do something you’re too scared to do elsewhere. For us it would be less, but it costs more to buy the studio space we need, so, yeah, some of the cost savings come from that point of view.

What’s the most annoying thing about doing music videos? The most annoying thing I get is, like, people want to talk at you too much. And you should be able to talk while you’re shooting your music videos and not have to have someone sitting right in front of you. It’s a little annoying when people walk up and you’re talking to somebody else. I’d rather be on my phone or talk to somebody and let them talk to me, but, I think, for that kind of stuff they have to leave — but, I like it how it is.

What’s been your favorite song to shoot so far? The first one we did, the song, which is a remix. I wanna be Mr. Tambourine Man!’ And it’s all the way from the video, in the background. It was a fun song for sure.

What’s your favorite song to shoot so far from the music video collection? Well, we
