What equipment do you need to shoot a music video? – Learn To Shoot Video

This list is just a rough guideline based on our experience, but we’ve used all these items in the past. Here’s a list of equipment to consider:

Camera & Lens

Any camera

Pro Photo or Video Production Software

A computer, hard drive, and a DVD drive

A CD player and music player

A projector to project the video

Computer to edit your content

The video you shoot will have to be at least one minute long, and it can use a lot of background footage. If you’re shooting a song or video, you’ll want to consider:

A sound system

Lighting

A camera rig

A lighting rig

A sound mixer

An audio/video controller

Any video editing software and software that can edit your video

A computer editing program

If you have a projector screen, you will need to be able to project that screen back to the set for sound.

There’s a very large number of factors that go into shooting a great music video that won’t involve much of this equipment. We always recommend checking out our resources and learning more.
