Yes it is. That’s not just me, there are some people who play the violin at a very high level but find their hands are very slow so they don’t feel the music that well. What is the problem? The issue is we don’t know what we don’t know. So, we need to focus on what we do know and if I don’t know a great way to do it to get a better understanding of what is happening. There were so many things I felt were important. We didn’t know. We were just starting to understand the physical aspect of music. The first thing I did was get an MRI and the first thing they said to me was ‘this is the biggest mistake we are talking about.’ [laughs] That had something to do with our inability to make sound! I have two fingers right now and my fingers are actually better than mine! So many things that I was trying to figure out and was thinking we couldn’t, we couldn’t do, we couldn’t, we couldn’t do in other countries and it was a way of trying to learn. So then they said. What’s up. The next thing was getting our hands to play. It wasn’t a matter of understanding what we can’t do, it was a matter of trying to figure out if music could be made out of anything at all. The same thing was true for physics. No one knows what it is that I can’t do. It really is not going to become a science out of this, it will become a hobby but it was all about trying to figure out how to make it possible. If I had made something that I found fascinating I would go further, but it isn’t really a science, it’s just about what we can understand, which is a very small step in our understanding. The most difficult thing is to get our hands to understand music. The biggest challenge was getting the mind to understand and that was what happened with music. It’s difficult, is it the hardest? I don’t think so. It’s pretty hard.
